Chrome users are again getting a security alert from the Indian government in May 2025 and the latest issue affects both Windows and Mac users in the country. The new alert comes from the security wing of the Indian government called the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In this week.

Windows users often face these threats but Chrome is equally vulnerable and the new update comes with a major risk for millions of PCs using the popular web browser.

Chrome Security Issue: What You Should Know

The CERT-In note dated May 16, 2025 comes with a high-severity rating and it talks about not one but multiple vulnerabilities in Chrome that can be exploited by hackers remotely. “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Insufficient policy enforcement in Loader and Incorrect handle provided in unspecified circumstances in Mojo. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted web page."

These issues might sound complex but using Chrome itself leaves you vulnerable to these risks and Google demands all its users download and install the latest available update to fix the holes in its security.

Chrome Windows And Mac Security Risk: Which Users Should Be Worried

The CERT-In bulletin also details the Chrome versions affected by these two security issues:

The agency also says that all individuals and businesses using Chrome for desktop on Windows and macOS can be the targets for the hackers.

The good news is that Chrome is aware of these issues and it has already come out with a patch to fix these loopholes and the stable channel update is now available for the affected Chrome users on Windows. We highly advise users to install the new patch for Chrome right away and reboot their systems.
