Google I/O 2025: Gemini AI, Android 16 And More We Expect
All About AI
There has been a running joke with most tech events these days as to how many times the word AI is used by the companies. Google is likely to outnumber most of them at the I/O 2025 with Gemini going to be at the forefront of the event and its pitch to the developers. Android has been its cash fodder for decades but the ongoing changes in the market and its investment in AI needs to deliver and these attempts will reflect during its presentations. Gemini is coming to watches, cars and TVs later this year, but that won’t be the end of it.
Android 16
The Android 16 design UI leaks have been confirmed with the Android show, and we are going to see a funkier version of Android for users this time around. Google says the interface will be more fluid with smooth animations across the UI and notification cards. Android is also getting Live activities-like features called real-time updates to keep you posted on the status of your cab or the food delivery service, all on the lock screen.
Android 16 will be coming to Wear OS 6, the new Android Auto with Gemini and possibly better tuned to work on foldables and tri-fold devices.
The XR Android Push
Apple showed its mixed reality of XR efforts with the visionOS and Vision Pro headset. But it seems Google is more aligned with XR and AR platforms, which is why we could see its first XR headset built with brands like Samsung and Vivo among others. We could also get our first look and details about the Google smart glasses that will rival the Meta Ray Ban glasses which will be soon made available in more regions, including India.
