Spotify AI-powered DJ feature is getting better and able to hear your voice commands to create playlists, play tracks and more. Available to premium users in over 60 markets, the new feature will now let users to curate their listening sessions in real time using their voice.

The feature already offers personalised music suggestions based on AI and insights from Spotify’s global editorial experts, helping users discover new tracks, rediscover old favourites, and deepen their connection with the music they love.

Now, with the new interactive voice request capability, users can simply speak to the AI DJ to update their personalised listening session according to their musical desires. Whether setting the mood for a date night or seeking high-energy tracks for a party, users can now directly change the DJ’s selections.

The enhanced AI DJ can understand a combination of requests related to genre, mood, artist, or activity. For example, one can say commands like, “Surprise me with some indie tracks I’ve never heard before," “Give me some electronic beats for a midday run," or even “Play me some cry-in-the-car songs."

Spotify first launched its AI-powered DJ feature in February 2023 in the US and Canada, creating an ever-changing playlist based on a user’s listening habits. The feature was later rolled out globally in August 2023. Last year, the music streaming company added support for a Spanish-speaking AI DJ, further expanding the reach and personalisation capabilities of this innovative feature.
