iPhone users are being warned about a major security risk by the Indian government. People using the latest iPhone 16 and older models will be rightly worried and the new details from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) tells us what the issue is and what Apple is doing to secure its devices.

iPhone Security Warning: What We Know

The CERT-In bulletin dated May 12, 2025 comes with a high severity rating and explains the risk posed to iPhone and iPad users and how they can secure their devices. “The vulnerability arises due to the fact that any iOS application can transmit sensitive system-level Darwin notifications without needing special privileges or entitlements," the note says.

It seems the vulnerability is linked to iOS and iPad notifications that are linked to various apps on the devices.

If the hacker is able to exploit these risks, they can use malicious applications to target the devices and make them unusable.
