Your Phone’s Battery Draining Faster Than Usual? Google Says It Was Instagram’s Fault
In a surprising move, Samsung is likely to skip the One UI 7 update for its Galaxy watches and fast-forward the One UI 8 version update for its wearables later this year. The brand just recently introduced the Android 15-based One UI 7 version to its Galaxy smartphones and most of us expected the One UI update to come for the Galaxy wearables.
But it seems plans have changed. Samsung launched the One UI 6 update for smartwatches that runs on Android 14 in November 2024. Ideally, the brand would have planned to bring the Android 15 version. But according to the tipster, the company is making plans to announce One UI 8 smartwatches for the Indian market.
Making Amends
It does seem like Samsung’s decision to skip the One UI 7 watch is aimed at aligning the One UI 8 Watch rollout with the One UI 8 release for smartphones. And in many ways that does make a lot of sense, even though these changes are being done because of the company’s delays with the One UI 7 roll out.
Although a different report suggested earlier in the week that Samsung is expected to start having Android 16-based One UI 8 beta on its devices (phones and tablets) as early as June. From next month, a more stable version of the OS will arrive with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
More reports say suggests that One UI 8 update will bring fresh health-tracking features and functionalists based on artificial intelligence to Samsung smartwatches. It is also expected to have a more colourful interface and could make its debut with the launch of Galaxy Watch 8 series which could also have a new Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 model in the mix.
