These messages will obviously include the emergency alert for millions of smartphone users in the country that will be transmitted through the operators.

Mock Drill In India: How To Get Emergency Alerts On Your Phone

Android users have the ability to get these emergency alerts but only if they are using a phone with Android 11 or higher version. The settings will be different for different Android versions (Pixel, One UI, HyperOS and more) so make sure to check for the actual terms for your device.

The phone settings says when you are roaming or don’t have an active SIM, you may get some alerts that are not included in these settings. We got these steps on a Pixel phone but you can apply the same on a OnePlus or a Samsung or a Xiaomi phone as well.

Mock Drill Alerts On iPhone: How To Enable

Now that we have talked about these alerts on Android, it is time to look at how Apple makes it possible to get the mock drill emergency alerts on the iPhone.

These emergency alerts have been tested time and again in the country. In fact, many users in the Delhi-NCR region on September 15, 2024 got a buzzing sound on their phones and with a screen flashing this message, “This is a SAMPLE TESTING MESSAGE sent through Cell Broadcasting System by Department of Telecommunication, Government of India. Please ignore this message as no action is required from your end. This message has been sent to TEST Pan-India Emergency Alert System being implemented by the National Disaster Management Authority. It aims to enhance public safety and provide timely alerts during emergencies,"

With millions of people using a phone, it allows the DoT to push these alerts and warn people about possible natural disasters or other imminent events.
