GTA 6 release has been pushed to 2026 and this was confirmed by Rockstar Games earlier this month. The popular GTA franchise was highly expected to get the new version at least before the end of 2025 but the game developer has come out with the bad news for the excited gamers. 

With its large setting, two protagonists, and improved gameplay mechanics, Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be one of the most ambitious games ever made and will revolutionise open-world gaming. In fact, the GTA 6 trailers in the last few months have revealed the action sequences, the graphics upgrades and more in front of the world. 

GTA 6 Release Delayed: What The Company Said 

The Rockstar Games shared the post via X on May 2, confirming the news and giving a new GTA 6 release date for 2026.

Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.

We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.

With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.

It seems Rockstar Games is not satisfied with the production quality, game performance or something related to the quality of the game that has forced the GTA 6 release to be delayed by another year. 

The GTA 6 gameplay is based on Vice City and its environs, like marshes and rural regions, will be part of the game’s expansive open-world map, which draws inspiration from Florida. Players may anticipate better physics, more advanced AI, and Lucia, the first female lead in the series, alongside Jason, the male lead.

GTA 6 launch price could face the effects of the higher tariffs and due to its high development and production expenditures. Special variants may cost up to Rs 7,299 or $100, while the basic edition is expected to cost around Rs 5,999 in India and $70 in the USA. Official details have not yet been verified; however, these editions might come with collectibles and exclusive in-game benefits.
