As per analyst, Ross Young, Vice President, Counterpoint Research, the rumoured display sizes for the future Apple Watch SE variants in his recent note. He also claims that production on the smartwatch in question has already begun, implying that it will be released soon.
According to him, next-generation Apple Watch SE series models will have 1.6-inch and 1.8-inch displays, slightly bigger than the current 1.57 and 1.78-inch displays. Also, the current versions have 40mm and 44mm case sizes, therefore, it’s fair to expect the following models to be larger due to display size enhancements.
The tech giant is planning to offer its affordable SE range in the older standard sizes (41mm and 45mm).
Previously, reports stated that Apple could replace the aluminium casing of the Apple Watch SE series with a plastic one. However, new details suggest the company is finding it more expensive to switch materials. It is also believed that Apple’s design team was not satisfied with the final appearance of the plastic Apple Watch SE.
According to Apple Magazine, the upcoming Watch SE 3 could support more watch faces, previously exclusive to larger-screen models, allowing greater personalisation. Also, it is expected to improve user readability due to the bigger screen size and could adopt a sleek and contemporary look.
Apple will have other matters to handle for now, with the big WWDC 2025 keynote confirmed for June, 2025 where we could see the company’s future AI roadmap.
