Meta AI users in India can try out a new feature in WhatsApp and Instagram called Imagine me. As you might think, the new option is part of the Meta AI chatbot that you can activate on WhatsApp or Instagram. The Imagine me is like a prompt that lets you create AI visuals of yourself in different settings and even outfits. 

Meta AI has its own app as well, so instead of trying it on WhatsApp or Messenger you can use the default AI chatbot app on your phone. The new feature was limited to the US region for a while, but now people in India can use the AI tool on these apps. 

Meta AI Imagine Me Feature: How It Works 

Meta is using facial data of the user to get the AI chatbot to generate the image based on the prompt fed by them. For instance, you can trigger Meta AI on WhatsApp and send the Imagine Me prompt with ‘in a Ferrari, and the platform will create the AI avatar of the image of you sitting in the car. It is obvious that any personalisation aspect by the AI will require a certain set of permissions on your phone to show its quality. 

Meta AI will seek your consent to access and analyse your facial data. This is done by clicking a few pictures of you from different angles that will be processed by the AI model to analyse your features and other traits. Now, when you feed the prompt with the Imagine Me phrase, it will generate the AI image. 

Meta seems to be mindful about the privacy aspect of the AI feature, and it claims only the person with the account can create the image. You cannot use Imagine me to create photos of other people, and only one face can be registered for an account. 

The AI generated images will have that artificial effect so that people don’t think it is a real-life photo. Meta is bringing the feature for Android users as of today and iPhone users will be getting it in the next few months.
