OnePlus has launched phones, tablets and wireless chargers before but the brand is now bringing a unique product that solves two problems. You have a new charging cable that is able to charge your phone and smartwatch at the same time. OnePlus is offering a USB C charging cable with the USB A type on the back end that attaches to the adapter. But in between the two links you have the watch unit mounted to the cable, where you can lug the OnePlus Watch model and charge it simultaneously. 

OnePlus 2-in-1 Charging Cable: Really Handy 

The concept of this 2-in-1 charging cable makes a lot of sense if you are invested in the OnePlus ecosystem. It is like how Apple has varied third-party charging units available, since the company’s own charging pad never made it to the market. Using the OnePlus Watch 2, 2R and 3 models will make this cable very handy, especially because you get the default fast-charging standard supported by the company. 

The cable lets you charge the phone at 80W speed, but having both the units in play gives you 10W for the Watch and 67W for the phone. 

Worth It?

Does it work with phones and watches from other brands, no, you are limited to using the USB C cable to charge the phone at slower speeds than what the red cable usually offers. Ideally, we would have preferred to see a compact charging pad instead of this cable lining to support two device charging, especially when it costs $29.99 (Rs 2,500 approx) that might seem good value but functionally does not look appealing. 

Apple is the company that charges this much for its cable and adapters, but the price of a cable feels high, which is why we don’t see this product coming to markets like India, even though it is an important region for the brand. And we have seen this with the company’s decision to not launch the latest OnePlus Watch 3 in the country, and also keeping its market strategy for products different in the region.
