YouTube will stop showing the Trending page for all users from this month onwards. The company has officially confirmed the changes earlier this month and it will be taking effect in the next couple of weeks. In addition to Trending, the Trending Now section is also going away and the platform is bringing more category-specific lists/sections to align with the current trends and usage patterns of the users.

It has been 10 years since YouTube introduced Trending for its users, and now it is going away for good, in favour of something new.

YouTube Trending Page Goes Away: What Now?

Now that the Trending page is being taken down, what does YouTube plan to do and what will users see next? The platform is adding new categories that will be named as Trending Music Videos, Weekly Top, Podcast Shows, and Trending Movie Trailers.

YouTube will be offering more sections in the near future. Content in 2025 has evolved and the demand for podcasts has clearly pushed the platform to reconsider its sections, and increase its viewership which is already in billions and growing.

It also feels like YouTube has finally realised that finding trending content does not need a specific tab or section. People can simply go to the search tab and see what other people are watching and become part of the herd. You also have Shorts content that has grown in viewership and demand across platforms, and YouTube has focused on the format with more diverse features on offer these days.

YouTube also observed that the visits to the Trending section has come down, which makes the decision to remove the tab a lot easier. The platform will continue to focus on creators by offering them the Inspiration tab in YouTube Studio where they can be up-to-date with the latest ideas and trending videos that they can offer through their channels.

The company is also using AI to push more features for people, and also use the existing content to train its AI systems, something which has reportedly made the new Veo 3 AI video model a powerful tool for creators and users.
