Elon Musk-owned social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has slashed its subscription fees in India by up to 48%, making premium features more accessible to users across the country.

According to updates on its portal, the cost of a monthly Premium subscription on the mobile app has dropped from Rs 900 to Rs 470, a 48% cut.

The Premium subscription includes features such as a blue checkmark, the ability to post longer content, edit posts, and access other tools that enhance engagement.

For users accessing X via the web, the Premium subscription has also been reduced — now priced at Rs 427 per month, down from Rs 650, a 34% reduction. The slightly higher mobile app price is due to platform fees charged by app stores.

X has also reduced pricing for its Basic subscription tier. Monthly charges have been cut by 30%, from Rs 243.75 to Rs 170. Annual subscriptions for Basic users now cost Rs 1,700 — down from Rs 2,590.48 — marking a 34% price drop.

Basic account holders get access to features such as editing posts, posting longer content, background video playback, and the ability to download videos.

The highest-tier Premium Plus plan — which offers an ad-free experience, long-form articles, and exclusive access to Grok AI features like SuperGrok and Grok 4 — has also become more affordable. On the web, this plan is now priced at Rs 2,570, compared to the earlier Rs 3,470 — a reduction of about 26%.

For mobile users, the Premium Plus plan now costs Rs 3,000 per month, down significantly from approximately Rs 5,100 earlier.
