Xiaomi and Leica have partnered for a range of premium phones in the last few years and a report this week suggested the tie up may soon come to an end. However, the company has now rubbished those rumours, and clarified that all is well between the two giants and will continue their association for years.

“Recent rumors suggesting the end of our collaboration are entirely unfounded. Both companies remain committed to deepening this strategic partnership and bringing even more innovative imaging solutions to Xiaomi smartphones," a Xiaomi spokesperson shared the statement with News18 Tech on Tuesday.

Xiaomi 13 series was the first to get the co-engineered Leica badge from the brand. And since then we have seen them make the Xiaomi 14/ 14 Ultra and the Xiaomi 15 series devices with the Leica-engineered cameras. In addition to quashing the rumours, Xiaomi has affirmed its tie up with the German camera giant and is looking to work on advanced camera imaging solutions for its phones in the years to come.

“Together, Xiaomi and Leica have collaborated closely to integrate advanced optics and imaging technologies into Xiaomi devices, delivering industry-leading mobile photography experiences to users around the world. This partnership continues to thrive, grounded in a shared vision of pushing the boundaries of mobile imaging," the company added in the statement.

The news about Xiaomi and Leica splitting was shared by tipster Digital Chat Station via Weibo earlier this week. We don’t know how much the Leica branding actually costs Xiaomi but going by other arrangements, it surely costs them something significant.

The tipster even suggested this development could benefit Redmi and Poco, as Xiaomi looks to up the ante with its hardware production cost now being more manageable. We are glad that Xiaomi will continue to work with Leica for its products and excited to see how the tie up delivers more premium devices in the near future with the Xiaomi 16 series launch widely expected before the end of the year.
