iOS 26 version is still in the developer beta stages but Apple has one last iOS 18 iteration rolling out, most likely in the early weeks of July. The iOS 18.6 beta has made its way to iPhone users in recent days, which ideally should be closing the curtains on the current version as Apple prepares for the biggest iOS 26 update when the iPhone 17 series launches this year.

The iOS 18.6 beta is available for your iPhone if you have signed up for the iOS beta program.

iOS 18.6 Beta Update: What iPhone Users Get

The iOS 18.6 beta update is as heavy as the last iOS 18 versions, with the download size of well over 7GB that you can install via Wi-Fi and takes a little longer than usual to update and work.

So does the heavy update come loaded with features? We have not seen any new notes for features with the iOS 18.6 beta update, and primarily seems to be focused on bug fixes and giving further stability to the OS in general.

To be fair, we are not shocked by the lack of new features on offer with the iOS 18.6 beta, which might change with version 18.6.1 or 18.6.2 update. But with Apple already starting the iOS 26 developer betas and the public beta expected in July for a wide range of iPhones, we don’t expect much to change with the last of the iOS 18 updates.

iOS 26 Beta On Its Way

iOS 26 gets the biggest design overhaul since iOS 7 according to Apple, and visually you can see them making a difference. Apple will offer the new iOS 26 update for iPhone models starting from 11 going up to the latest available 16 Pro Max variant. The list also confirms that iPhone X, Xs and Xr versions will no longer get iOS updates from the company and these users should now upgrade to any of the models mentioned above.

It is intriguing to see the iPhone SE 2nd gen model included in the support list but if you want the latest Apple AI features, you will need to have the iPhone 15 Pro or newer models.
