The new iOS 26 Liquid Glass design has got mixed reviews from the users. Some have liked the translucent nature of the UI which blends into the icons and mimics the mirror-like effect. While others have criticised the UI for being an accessibility nightmare across different modes.

But Apple is unlikely to feel the wrath of these views, primarily because the new iOS 26 UI has not been designed for the existing iPhone models, instead the company is planning for the next era of iPhones, which is likely to include foldables and all-glass designs.

Liquid Glass Design: Eyeing The Future

Apple claims the iOS 26 version is the biggest update since iOS 7 came out over a decade back. The new Liquid Glass UI offers a mix of elements that we have seen on other platforms but Apple seems to have taken a unique approach to its design ideology primarily because of one eye on the future.

We have heard rumours about an all-glass iPhone model launching in the next few years, which could be the ideal platform where the new design sits right into its place.

Apple is highly expected to enter the foldable arena in 2026 and bringing the Liquid Design UI across iPhones, iPads and even Macs suggests it plans to have a unified experience with its current and future products.

You can reimagine the new UI when the products designed for this change are released in the market. And then we might see people’s views change about the Liquid Glass interface from the company. Having said that, it is surprising to see Apple not focused on the accessibility aspect of the new UI which should at least be readable across modes, something that the Liquid Design changes does not offer as of today.

The iOS 26 developer beta is now available for a wide range of iPhones starting from the 11 series this year. Apple has confirmed that the iOS 26 public beta will be coming out in July, which will be available over-the-air (OTA) for all users signing up for the beta program.
