A major security alert has been issued by the Indian government and it concerns Android devices running on varied Qualcomm chipsets. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has been entrusted with warning the users in the country and Qualcomm has a detailed dossier on the security issues that were first discovered and reported by Google’s Threat Analysis Group.

The security agency has also explained that the latest issues can be exploited by attackers to gain sensitive information and execute arbitrary code on your phone.

Android Security Risk For Qualcomm Devices: What We Know

The security bulletin comes with a high severity rating this month and talks about multiple vulnerabilities reported in a host of Qualcomm chipsets that power phones, GPUs, Wi-Fi modem and more. “Qualcomm chipsets power a wide range of devices with advanced connectivity, AI, and processing capabilities. Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in various Qualcomm products," the note says.

The issues are severe and Qualcomm is warning all its handset partners, the end consumers and enterprise divisions about the list of risks. The company has also shared the details of the Snapdragon chipsets and modems affected by the vulnerabilities that warrants your immediate attention.

We filtered through the details and found popular chipsets like Snapdragon 480+ 5G, Snapdragon 662, 8 Gen 2 and even the 2024 flagship 8 Gen 3 version mentioned in the ‘affected chipsets’ section.

Android Security Issue: What Has Qualcomm Done?

It seems Qualcomm is aware of the issues and worryingly some of them may have already been exploited in the wild, as the CERT-In note suggests. You don’t need further reasons to protect the device and the best way for that is to install the latest Android security patch that all of the brands using Qualcomm chipsets would have issued by now.

You should be getting the May 2025 security update which should handle these vulnerabilities and keep your device safe from possible hacking attempts. Android users can get the latest version by:
