Samsung has a new security feature for its users and the company is asking them to enable it on their devices right away. The message is being relayed to Galaxy phone users in the UK as the company looks to prevent people from falling prey to major smartphone theft. Samsung has even sent out a public alert for over 40 million Galaxy users with a Samsung account in the UK region and asking them to quickly protect their devices with the new feature available on their phone.

Samsung Anti-Theft Alert Details: What It Offers

Samsung’s message advises people to install the latest One UI 7 update which has new anti-theft features like Identity check and Security delay. These tools are meant to limit the use of your phone by the thieves who will need to go through multiple security layers to be able to wipe out the data and take the device offline.

It seems the company is serious about making its users aware of these new security upgrades, which is why Samsung is using all mediums like ads, radio and TVCs to connect and reach out to its consumers. The new security measures for anti-theft features includes:

Theft detection lock: Samsung uses ML to sense a sudden movement that can be linked to snatching of the phone and lock the device.

Offline device lock: The company automatically locks the stolen device if it notices going offline for a long period.

Remote lock: Users can remotely lock their stolen device with their phone number and further verification steps.

Samsung has added more layers of security for these cases, and these are:

Identity check: The Galaxy phones will demand a biometric security check when it notices a random change in settings done in an unknown location.

Security delay: Samsung realises that remotely locking the device can take some time so with this update, you get one hour to block all the access to the account and data and prevent the thieves from taking control over the device.

We have not come across these alerts from Samsung in other regions, and it seems the message is aimed at Galaxy users in the UK for now. These new One UI 7 features for security are available with the Galaxy S25 series from day one, while the S24, S23, S22 and the Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 5 and 6 series users are also getting them now.
