All Android users and phone makers are at a serious risk of being hacked and the Indian government has issued its latest security alert for millions of users in the country. The new risk alert comes via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) this month where it says the issues can allow attackers to gain sensitive information, and cause denial of service conditions on the targeted system.

Once again, the security issue is linked to a host of manufacturers who have a big role in developing the Android phones, and any threat to them will have a direct impact on the consumers.

Android Hacking Risk: What The Alert Says

The latest CERT-In alert dated May 12, 2025 explains the issues, how it affects the Android users and who are likely to be targeted because of these vulnerabilities.

“Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Android due to flaws in the Framework, Media Framework, System, Documents UI, Permission Controller, WiFi, Arm components, Imagination Technologies, Kernel, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components," the note says.

If you closely look at the components facing the security issues, you can effectively say that almost all parts of the Android phone, from all manufacturers are at serious risk. “Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, obtain sensitive information, gain elevated privileges and cause a Denial of Service (Dos) condition on the targeted system," the note adds.

The security agency warns that any phone running on Android 13, 14 or even the 15 version can be exploited by the hackers because of these issues and they should quickly secure their devices.

Android Security Issue: Update Now!

Google has issued a series of advisory for the security issues and the patches are available for most brands in the market. You just need to update to the latest available security patch for Android by following these steps:

Google has also announced the Android 16 version at the Android Show earlier this week, and talked about the Material Expressive UI coming to Pixel devices later this year.
