Fortnite is finally returning to iOS devices after five years of absence. Epic Games and Apple have been contesting the legal battle which meant the popular royal battle game was removed from the App Store. But the comeback is just a few days away now. The update came as a big surprise for the fans who have been waiting to play Fortnite for a long time.
We still don’t have the exact date and time of the game’s availability on the App Store. And Fortnite has left the ball in Apple’s court, sharing the news that the game has been submitted to Apple which will review it before launching it on the App Store for iPhone users.
Most reports say Fortnite on iOS should happen in the next few weeks, depending on the speed of Apple’s approval process and here are the details you need to install the game on the device.
Fortnite On iOS: How To Download
The classic method to download on your device is through the App Store. Users can open the store and type ‘Fortnite’ in the search option, tap the ‘Get’ button and begin downloading.
An alternative route is via Epic Games Store, which is already in use in the European Union, as a way to download Fortnite on iOS devices. This would involve downloading the Epic Games Store app first, followed by Fortnite.
The company is expected to provide detailed instructions upon launch, depending on the distribution strategy approved in the United States.
Why Was Fortnite Removed From iOS?
Fortnite was removed from the Apple App Store in August 2020 after Epic Games introduced a direct payment method that bypassed Apple’s in-app purchase system. This sparked a legal dispute between the two tech giants, with Epic challenging Apple’s authority over iOS app distribution and payments.
The issue resulted in Epic’s developer account being terminated, thereby preventing iOS users from accessing the game. However, recent legal and regulatory developments in both the United States and Europe have paved the way for Fortnite’s return to iPhones and iPads.
