Apple is gearing up to launch its iPhone 17 series in September this year. The lineup is expected to include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Leaks surrounding the upcoming models have already revealed key design and hardware details. Now, reports say Apple is planning to introduce a new colour to the iPhone 17 family and keep it exclusively for the iPhone 17 Pro.

Citing sources close to Apple’s supply chain, tipster Majin Bu has revealed that multiple prototypes of the iPhone 17 Pro have been developed in various colours, with sky blue currently emerging as the frontrunner. Described as a “soft, elegant blue" inspired by the clear sky of a spring morning, the new shade is said to closely resemble the hue of the latest MacBook Air M4 model.

Going by the details, Apple’s blue variant in its ‘Pro’ lineup could be a big change for the flagship model since 2021.

According to a report by The Information, the iPhone 17 Pro may have a redesigned rear panel made of aluminium and glass. The top half of the rear panel will be crafted from aluminium that will house the camera system. The camera bump is likely to be larger than the one available on the iPhone 16 Pro models. The report further hints the iPhone 17 Pro may feature an aluminium frame.

It is worth noting that the company introduced a new Sky Blue colour way on its M4 MacBook Air models that were released last month.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro: Specifications

iPhone 17 Pro is likely to be powered by the A19 Pro chipset and paired with 12 GB of RAM, up from the iPhone 16 Pro’s 8 GB. The upcoming phone is tipped to come with a 6.3-inch display.

The 17 Pro is expected to get a triple-camera setup at the back. It is likely to get a LiDAR scanner, along with a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 48MP 5x tetra prism telephoto lens, swapping the 12MP sensor found in the iPhone 16 Pro. On the front, it is expected to have a 24MP sensor.

The upcoming iPhone Pro model is said to come with 35W fast charging and likely to come with in-house the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modems.

The new iPhone 17 series will run on the iOS 19 version which will be unveiled at the WWDC 2025 in June which is couple of months away.
