The situation has not become any better so far, as Google reportedly suggests people to be careful about how they use their Gmail account, which has over 3 billion users across the globe. Google is worried about the security of Gmail users and the new advice from the company tells you it wants to help the affected users.

Google spokesperson has been quoted saying that people whose Gmail accounts are compromised, they have 7 days to recover it before the hackers inflict further damage. The company’s quote in the Forbes report this week says even if hackers are able to change their password or recovery methods, all is not lost, and you can regain the account again.

These details will surely comfort Gmail users but the company also informs that you are only protected if the strict authentication steps are followed for your account. 

Google Recovery Tips

The big Gmail warning has come about after a user named Nick Johnson shared a scary post on X which details the modus operandi of these scams and it does look worrying. He claims he got a very official-looking mail from Google with an email address that would generally not worry people.

Google even highlighted the flaws that were exploited to push these emails without getting caught. The company will soon push out updates to fix the loophole that makes these attacks vulnerable.
